Volunteer for AboutSF

Volunteer efforts are vital to our AboutSF mission, and there are many ways to donate and volunteer, whether you are a teacher, librarian, SF scholar, writer or fan. Become a volunteer and maybe we really can “save the world through Science Fiction” as SFWA Grandmaster James Gunn mandated when AboutSF was founded!

Teachers

Please consider donating a syllabus to our collection of SF teaching materials. You may contact us directly if you have a syllabus to donate: AboutSF@gmail.com
If you have never used Science Fiction in the classroom before, consider incorporating SF into your lesson plans.

Contact the AboutSF coordinator if you live in the Lawrence or Kansas City area if you are interested in having the AboutSF portable teaching workshop presented at your school. Contact us directly if you would like to schedule a presentation: AboutSF@gmail.com

If you live outside of the Lawrence or Kansas City area, consider using the downloadable portable teaching workshop to give your own presentation on teaching SF.

If you have already used an SF or speculative literature text in your classroom, please consider writing a Teaching the Future column for us. We would love to have you share your experience with us!

If you would like to have a speaker on a topic relevant to speculative literature visit your school or institution, please make use of our Speculative Speaker tool to find someone in your area. If you yourself would like to offer services as a speaker, please consider registering with the Speculation Speakers Bureau.
